In July 2024, Liam began his new role as a Cadbury merchandiser in the East Bentleigh Ritchie’s IGA supermarket. It was a massive achievement for Liam, for whom the position of merchandiser won’t just provide earnings, but also enable him to learn new skills and be part of the store team.
While Liam’s success was made possible through Hearth’s Open Employment program and partnership with Cadbury – it did not come easy. Liam was one of two standout applicants.
The very comprehensive selection process which included interviews with Cadbury, involved hours of thorough planning, assessing goals, tasks and each applicants’’ attributes. In the end, Liam was the successful applicant.
Kevin, Cadbury’s State Sales Manager (Vic) and Mary, Cadbury’s Territory Manager are both passionate about the Open Employment program they both fondly refer to as “Project Purple Heart”.
Equally as supportive is Ritchies IGA.
Liam’s commencement follows the earlier success of Georgia, who began working for Cadbury, merchandising in IGA Bendigo supermarkets as part of the Hearth Open Employment program. Liam will commence with 2 shifts a week.
He will build his shifts as his capacity grows across the next couple of years. Liam is an extremely proud Cadbury employee and is supported by a skilled Hearth Support Worker.
