Annette Mikecz

B.App.Sc. (Speech Pathology) Master of Counselling (Monash) Dip. Speech & Drama (AMEB)

Annette is a highly skilled, senior Speech Pathologist with over 27 years professional experience nationally and internationally.

In Australia, she has worked in Victoria (Melbourne), the Northern Territory (Alice Springs), Western Australia (Karratha & Paraburdoo- Pilbara Mining districts), Tasmania (North West Coast) and the ACT (Canberra). In London, she worked at the Guys & St Thomas Hospital.

This has included work in private and public inpatient and subacute rehabilitation acute facilities/hospitals, community health, primary and population health teams in rural and regional Australia, community health, in education settings, digital health.   

Annette has worked in the disability sector since 2019 in various capacities including therapeutic supports, supporting participants with improving their functional communication, optimisation of meal time management and supporting the overall quality of life of participants.

Her previous roles have included Senior Speech Pathology roles, management,  case manager for a government department in vocational rehabilitation, injury management, return to work and delivery of workplace training and development programs.

Annette has worked on an extensive caseload of neurological, learning and developmental delay, cognitive, neurodegenerative conditions , medical conditions and  more.

Annette’s interests also include the assessment, diagnosis and management of speech, language, cognitive, voice, functional communication, and swallowing difficulties. She has also worked on the delivery of educational programs, as well as training and support, in senior roles.

Annette’s approach is practical and down to earth, personal and family centred with deep respect for each persons individual, family, cultural, spiritual, religious and sporting beliefs (including football). Annette is committed to provide a client centred approach which is tailored and meaningful , to increase ones choices and  to participate and enjoy life.

Annette has travelled to over 19 countries.

She enjoys playing tennis, having competed in the Alice Springs Masters Games twice, and she has even played women’s only  football game on the TIO oval . Her biggest failure is having studied a comedy course as she still cannot tell a joke well.
