Sarina Bunnett

Sarina is Hearth’s Advisor to the CEO and Chair Advisor of the Hearth Advisory Board.

Sarina has a background in Augmentative and Alternative Communication, Person Centred Planning and Personal Outcomes with a strong belief in people with disabilities’ Human Rights.

Sarina began her career in disability in 1976 at Children’s Cottages Kew. The institution housed over 1,000 children (from birth) to adulthood and played an important role in how disability care and policy evolved in Victoria.

Throughout her career, Sarina has relentlessly dedicated her life to supporting people with disability to live according to their rights, to proclaim their choice and control and to live valued meaningful lives according to their personally defined goals and outcomes.

Sarina says there is plenty to reflect on and still more to learn.

“48 years is a while, and time has flown but it has been an incredible journey of learning, helping, empathy, person-centeredness and human rights, always placing individuals at the centre of their own lives – always listening, hearing and working hard.”

Her passion is particularly evident when she talks about many stories and how we can support people to live their best lives.
