Wednesday, 2nd April is World Autism Awareness Day.
At Hearth, it is an important time to reflect on and strengthen our commitment to providing the best support for individuals living with autism.
An estimated 1 in 40 Australians are diagnosed with autism. For each individual, greater understanding, acceptance, and support can positively impact social interactions, relationships, communication, empowerment, and workforce participation.
In January of this year, the Australian government took a significant step forward with the release of the Australian National Autism Strategy – a first for the country.
The strategy includes key commitments to social and economic inclusion, as highlighted in the First Action Plan for 2025-2026.
Just as important will be ongoing awareness raising and some of our picks this month and later include:
April 5 City of Yarra World Autism Awareness Week Event (more)
April 29 Amaze Hoodie Up “My Positive Autistic Identity” campaign (more)
May 7 Austism 2025 – a speaker event in Sydney and online (more)
Hearth is a NDIS registered provider of disability support.
