Hearth Support Services Team Deepens Their Understanding of Autism Through Training
At Hearth Support Services, we are dedicated to providing our team with the tools they need to succeed. That’s why we recently undertook a training workshop on autism, developed by Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect). This workshop is part of our ongoing commitment to the personal and professional development of our employees.
We recognize that learning opportunities are essential for career growth and to better understand and support the community we serve. April was autism awareness month, and we thought it was the perfect time to offer an in-depth look at autism. Our training workshop provided practical insights and knowledge to help us better support people with autism and their families.
Our training workshop was developed with the team’s needs in mind, and we are confident that it has equipped the Hearth team with valuable skills and knowledge that will benefit them both personally and professionally.
The key content the training workshop focused on
- Autism and supports – what is autism, neurodiversity, and autism, understanding autism.
- Good practice principles – visual supports, increase structure & organisation, physical structure.
- Understanding your participant
- Quality of life – strategies, person centred planning, active support
