Now Available in Bendigo – Hearth Allied Health Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology Services

Hearth Allied Health is thrilled to announce that we are now accepting referrals for NDIS & private clients who require Occupational Therapy and or Speech Pathology services in Greater Bendigo. Services will be provided either face to face or via telehealth depending on client needs.

These services are in addition to our existing Positive Behaviour Support Bendigo service.

Reece Adams Director of Occupational Therapy, Research, and Innovation

Reece Adams will be providing Occupational Therapy services in Bendigo; he began his career as a Disability Support Worker with Yooralla. Reece has continued working with people with Disabilities in various capacities including Occupational Therapist, Researcher and Head of a state-wide health service for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Reece Adams completed his Bachelor of Occupational Therapy Sciences at Deakin University in 2006 and completed his postgraduate Honours Research at Monash University in 2016 studying the Wheelchair and Seating Assessment process for adults with Developmental Disabilities.

Reece’s work experience includes community-based services for people with disabilities including vision impairment, neurological conditions, and complex developmental disabilities.

Occupational Therapy can provide:

  • Home modifications and environment
  • Functional assessments and reports
  • Assistive technology prescription and training
  • Pressure care equipment and Manual handling
  • Standard and complex wheelchair and seating and prescription
  • Support and training (on the ground) for key stakeholders involved
  • Specialist Disability Accommodation & Support Independent Living assessment & reports

Joanne Whiteoak Director of Speech Pathology

Joanne Whiteoak Director of Speech Pathology will be providing speech pathology services in Bendigo. Joanne is an experienced Speech Pathologist with over 25 years’ experience working in Australia and the United Kingdom.

This has included work in private and public acute and rehabilitation facilities, such as Alfred Health, Epworth Healthcare, Monash Health, Western Health and HCA International (UK).

Joanne demonstrates excellence in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of adults with acquired speech, language, cognitive, voice and swallowing difficulties.

These difficulties may arise because of an acquired disability, stroke, head injury, neuro-surgical intervention, progressive neurological disease, Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) disorders or a range of other conditions.

Joanne is committed to provision of client centred support to ensure assessment and therapy is tailored to an individual’s needs and can assist with improving their ability to participate in everyday life, including assistance with return to work, study or leisure pursuits.

Speech Pathology offer:
  • Assessment & Therapy
  • Mealtime/Swallowing assessments. Supporting clients with Dysphagia
  • Training and Support for families and support workers around communication and safe mealtimes management

Hearth Continues to Evolve

Hearth Support Services has rapidly expanded its client base across metropolitan Melbourne and Regional Victoria. The holistic “Hearth Approach” to disability services has resonated with clients who are looking for a long-term disability support services provider partnership.

Hearth Support Services has gone through enormous change over the last 5 years since its inception in 2017!

Today Hearth Disability Support Services is an innovative and rapidly growing NDIS registered and audited provider with hundreds of Clients and hundreds of Disability Support Workers operating 24/7, 365 days a year.

At Hearth we have continued to evolve and learn rapidly to build capability, systems, and processes to be able to sustainably support a wide range of Client/Participant needs, leading to positive outcomes for our participants including some of the highest intensity support Participants in Victoria.

To this end, during 2021 we expanded our Melbourne support services to create a true client centred interdisciplinary approach to support. The additional services includeHearth Allied Health (Speech Pathology, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy) as well as Positive Behaviour Support.

We also expanded our geographical footprint in 2021 by opening an office in Bendigo and in February 2022 we opened an office in Geelong.

We appreciate that there is a great demand for allied health, so our experienced clinicians will aim to assist.
